Polish scientists from the Śląski University of Technology designed a prototype of a respirator that can be controlled remotely, reports the website polskieradio24.pl. The prototype design was created as part of the RespiSave project during university collaboration.
The respirator prototype is an innovative invention. The respirator was created to solve current problems in hospitals. The ventilator is unique, because it can be controlled remotely, i.e. monitor the patient’s well-being via the Internet. Scientists expect that in this way the doctor will be less likely to get infected from the patient, for example, on a virus. The doctor will also be able to control more respirators remotely.
— Imagine the situation when we have many such devices in the hospital and the doctor can monitor all patients from one place by checking the data from the ventilator. The device ventilates the patient, helps him to maintain adequate respiratory parameters during the illness — says the originator of the respirator prototype, mgr inż. Leszek Kowalik, informs website polskieradio24.pl.
In addition to monitoring, it will be possible to remotely change device parameters and settings. Scientists made the respirator in the way that the device was available for use even at home and for patients of different ages.
Polscy naukowcy stworzyli prototyp respiratora
Polscy naukowcy z Politechniki Śląskiej zaprojektowali prototyp respiratora, którym można sterować zdalnie, podaje portal polskieradio24.pl. Projekt prototypu został stworzony w ramach projektu RespiSave podczas współpracy szkół wyższych.
Prototyp respiratora jest innowacyjnym wynalazkiem. Aparat został wymyślony z myślą o rozwiązania obecnych problemów w szpitalach. Respirator jest unikatowy tym, że nim można będzie sterować zdalnie, czyli monitorować samopoczucie pacjenta przez Internet. Naukowcy spodziewają się, że w ten sposób u lekarza będzie mniejsza szansa zakazić się od pacjenta, na przykład wirusem. Również lekarz będzie w stanie sterować wieloma respiratorami zdalnie.
– Proszę wyobrazić sobie sytuację, gdy mamy w szpitalu wiele takich urządzeń, a lekarz może monitorować wszystkich pacjentów z jednego miejsca, sprawdzając dane pochodzące z respiratora. Oprócz monitorowania możliwa będzie zdalna zmiana parametrów urządzenia i ustawień. Naukowcy zadbali, żeby urządzenie było dostępne w użytku nawet w warunkach domowych i dla pacjentów w różnym wieku.
